Real Madrid vs Chelsea
Given Chelsea’s poor performance in domestic competitions, caretaker manager Frank Lampard is well aware that the team’s entire season rests on their success in the Champions League. After firing Graham Potter earlier in the week, the Blues turned to former boss Lampard – just months after his dismissal at Everton. Two years since he was dismissed by Boehly‘s predecessor Roman Abramovich in west London.
On Wednesday, the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final sees a clash between the last two champions of Europe’s most sought-after football prize. Chelsea will be visiting the Santiago Bernabeu to face current holders Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti, who guided Chelsea to Champions League glory in 2012, will be facing his former club.
In the previous round, Ancelotti’s team cruised to a 6-2 aggregate victory over Liverpool. Meanwhile, Chelsea came from behind in the first leg to secure a 2-1 win against Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea’s midweek goalless draw against Liverpool raised expectations for their game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday (April 8).
However, the team failed to build on their previous result and showed no signs of intensity. Leading to a frustrating 1-0 loss at Molineux, It was disappointing to see them return to their old ways after a promising performance earlier in the week.
Disappointed Chelsea Fan
As a Chelsea fan, it’s nerve-wracking to see the team travel to Spain for their first-leg clash against Real Madrid. In the quarter-finals of the Champions League players seem to have a do-or-die mindset. Fully aware that a loss could shatter any remaining positivity at Stamford Bridge after a tumultuous season. It’s a crucial game, and I hope the team can pull off a win. And keep their hopes alive in the competition.
The domestic campaigns of both Real Madrid and Chelsea have been plagued with frustration. Real Madrid has fallen far behind Barcelona in the La Liga title race, while Chelsea’s position in the Premier League is catastrophic. As a result, both teams have put all their hopes on the Champions League, knowing that their entire season’s success depends on their performance in this competition.
For the third consecutive season, Real Madrid and Chelsea are set to face each other in the knockout stages of the top European competition. In 2021, Chelsea emerged as the victors, but in 2022, Real Madrid had the upper hand. It remains to be seen who will come out on top in their 2023 encounter, and anticipation for the game is high.

I am eagerly waiting for the clash between Real Madrid and Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals. Both teams have a rich history in European competitions. It will be exciting to see them go head-to-head once again. With the season on the line, Chelsea’s Managerial Woes, and Real Madrid’s shaky season, the pressure is on for both sides to perform. and I’m hoping for an intense and thrilling encounter.
