The Battle for European Glory: Can Liverpool have Remontada against the Los Blancos?

Champions League Round of 16 Second-leg ties are on their way, Real Madrid faces Liverpool at the Santiago Bernabeu for their second-leg game. Winning the previous one by 5-2, will the Los Blancos continue to add to Liverpool’s woes or will we be seeing a remontada?

Needing to crave up a slice of Bernabeu magic to prolong their champions league journey. Liverpool travels all the way to the Spanish capital for their second-leg tie in the round of 16 against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team three weeks ago has to fight their way from 2-0 down to record a sensational 5-2 win over Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side in their own home at Anfield.
That loss and Saturday’s 1-0 loss to bottom-of-the-table Bournemouth came in an otherwise amazing run of form in the premier league which included a 7-0 humiliation of one of their greatest rivals Manchester United. Liverpool’s season so far has been very inconsistent.

History the comebacks

Although it’s easy to assume a predictable outcome for the Liverpool vs Real Madrid match in the Champions League. It’s important to note that the tournament has seen several remarkable comebacks in recent years. Real Madrid being involved in many of them.
Therefore, Carlo Ancelotti’s team needs to be at their best when they face Liverpool in the second leg. On the injury front, there’s a mix of good and bad news for Real Madrid.

According to Mario Cortegana’s tweet, Ferland Mendy and Karim Benzema have both trained with the team and will be available to play against Liverpool. David Alaba’s condition has improved, but he won’t be featuring in the match on Wednesday.

Liverpool has a history of producing incredible comebacks in European competitions. Their 4-3 aggregate win against Barcelona in 2018-19 after trailing 3-0. They still face some challenges in their upcoming match against Real Madrid.

The absence of Anfield’s passionate fans and Divock Origi, who is known for his ability to meet quickly-taken corners, is not an ideal situation for the team.

Additionally, Liverpool has only managed to secure two away wins out of eight matches played on the road in 2023. And they haven’t won any of their seven games against Real Madrid since their triumph in the quarter-finals of the 2008-09 tournament.

Here is all the information about the game as Real Madrid and Liverpool fight for a spot in the last eight of the competition.

Match Prediction!

Liverpool has been scoring consistently in their recent games and it’s crucial for them to adopt an attacking strategy right from the start of the match against Real Madrid.

This approach is likely to result in both teams scoring and Liverpool being exposed to counterattacks. However, this could potentially make for an exciting game.

My Prediction is 4-2 Liverpool but the tie will be taken by Real Madrid. But who knows Liverpool might pull off a remontada? Well, we’ll get to know it on Wednesday night!
