ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Teams to watch out
The first team to watch out for has to be Australia. They are the defending champions of the tournament and the record six-time champions. This automatically makes them the most important team to watch out for. Despite the absence of Meg Lanning, under whom they won four championships, they have a poised squad featuring the likes of Alyssa Healy, Elysse Perry, and Ashleigh Gardner, among others.
India is certainly the favourite in any tournament they feature in, and why shouldn’t they be? After all, they have the best players and one of the most balanced squads in the tournament. Led by the likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, they have openers like Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma. In the middle order, they have the likes of Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodriguez, with Renuka Singh leading the bowling attack.
The last team on the list is South Africa, the runner-up in the 2023 edition of the tournament. Although they will field a team deprived of Shabnim Ismail and Dane van Niekerk’s experience, their squad has enough depth to reach the final. They have had several players, including Tazmin Brits, Marizanne Kapp, and Sunne Luus, who have stepped up at the right time. Under the able leadership of Laura Wolvaardt, they will be looking to win the tournament.
