The Indian contingent is all set to make history at the Paris Olympics 2024. They are coming off a great outing at the Asian Games 2023, where they made personal history with 107 medals. Now, all eyes will be on the Olympics; however, it won’t be easy.
When the best players worldwide compete against you, things get tricky. But, the Indian contingent is prepared to show the world what they’re made of.
So, without further delay, let’s examine the athletes who can win a medal for India at the Paris Olympics.
Players to watch out for this Olympics:
- Mirabai Chanu
The first medalist of the Tokyo Olympics for India is definitely the first name that comes to everyone’s mind whenever we talk about medals at the Olympics. However, she is coming off a year that was marred by injuries, so it will be interesting to see if she can match her personal best, as it will certainly guarantee her medal.
- Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty
There is no better choice to win a gold medal in badminton than the duo of Satwiksairaj and Chirag. These players have been in what can only be described as the best form of their career.
They won the Asian Games, Indonesia Open Super 1000, and Badminton Asia Championships. On top of that, they were also the World number 1 ranked pair. Hence, they’re most likely to deliver for their country.
- Nikhat Zareen
One name that has stayed on everyone’s lips is Zareen. She comes into this tournament with medals from the Asian and Commonwealth Games and is a two-time world champion. In short, she has the potential to create history by becoming the first Indian boxer to bring home Olympic gold.
- Neeraj Chopra
Last but not least is India’s golden boy, Neeraj Chopra. He is probably the most obvious choice, almost a no-brainer. Undoubtedly, he is the most consistent thrower in the world. On top of that, he enters the games as defending champion. Still, the distance of his throws casts doubt on his medal’s colour.
India is certain to break their previous record of 7 medals from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. So, gather around to cheer on your favourite athletes to bring home glory.
