The T20 World Cup 2024 league stage has finally come to an end, and we have reached the knockouts. It has been one of the most entertaining tournaments, bringing small cricketing nations into the limelight and allowing them to make a name for themselves by creating upsets.

However, that has become a thing of the past, as only four teams remain in the tournament. With the semifinals and later the final coming, let’s look at the teams that have qualified for them.

Teams to qualify for the Semifinals of T20 World Cup 2024

England qualified for semifinals

After a shaky start and nearly getting knocked out of the group stage, England has recovered well. On top of that, they showed some great cricketing action in Super 8 to become the first team to make it to the Semis. They are the defending champions and will be expected to go all the way.

South Africa played a virtual quarterfinal against the West Indies to book their berth in the Semis. They are the only team, besides India, to have remained unbeaten in the tournament so far.

Having won their first two Super 8 encounters, India confirmed their place in the final four by virtually knocking Australia out of the tournament. However, their chances of making it to the final four were hung by a loose thread from the result of the Afghanistan vs. Bangladesh game.

Afghanistan beat Bangladesh

But in the end, Afghanistan made it to the semifinals by knocking out Bangladesh and Australia in a single blow. They defeated their contemporary Asian team in a nail-biting finish to reach the last four of any ICC tournament for the first time in the sport’s history.
