The stage is all set for the world to witness yet another bombastic ICC event: the T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in the West Indies and the USA.

This is the first time in the game’s history that an ICC tournament will take place in the USA, beginning on June 1st and culminating at the final showdown on June 29th, 2024. Earlier, some bilateral series have been played in the country; however, a multi-team tournament will be a new thing for the country.

Twenty nations, divided into four groups, will be vying for cricket’s ultimate title in the shortest format. The expanded number of teams adds fresh enthusiasm to the game. But all eyes still remain on England, with the hanging question – will they retain their title?

Teams to watch out in T20 World Cup 2024

England enter the tournament as the favourites. Although they might have had a bad outing in India in the ODI World Cup just a few months ago, there is no doubt about their prowess in the shortest format of the game. Led by Jos Buttler and with a roster that boasts youthful energy and experience, they will certainly be confident of lifting the title again.

The Indian team becomes automatic favourites in any tournament or series in which it participates. They were the inaugural champions of this trophy but have been eluded by glory since then. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and backed by the experience of Kohli, Suryakumar, and Pandya, among others, they will also be looking to end their trophy drought.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Date and Time

The tournament kicks off on June 2nd. The first game will see the USA take on Canada in Dallas. This match will begin at 06:00 AM IST.

The West Indies will play Papa New Guinea in Guyana in the second game on the same day. The game will begin at 08:00 PM IST and is expected to be one-sided.
